It’s time for the Top 3 to show us who wants to be in the finalè. Casey James kicks it off with a good energy. Happiest I think he’s been all season and the most comfortable I believe I have seen him. Not crazy about the song and performance but not bad either. Randy Jackson the song was alright it was safe, easy, and didn’t work for him. Ellen wishes you would have brought it with a bigger song. Kara said you what you picked did not work in your favor. Simon would compare that first song to a salad at dinner.
Crystal Bowersox follows up with “Come to my window”. I hope you can bring the passion out better than Casey did on the first song. More passion but your not really wowing me. I’m waiting for you to strap the base drum to your back with the symbols on top to truly become a one person band. I could see wanting one instrument but I felt like you were too over loaded with them. Randy didn’t love the arrangement personally but loved the vocal. Ellen thought it was a good song choice. Kara think acoustically would have been better. Simon doesn’t think it was the most stunning version of the song we have heard.
Lee Dewyze is coming up next and I pray it will be something stellar. I’m almost regretting tuning in tonight as the first two performances just board me to death so I need Lee to have a break out performance. Lee has picked “Simple Man”. I think you were closest to making the right song choice but just fell short. I wish you picked something you could have rocked out a bit more too. It’s another good but not amazing performance. What’s bad is I know all three of you can do better. Randy great song choice. Ellen that is what we are talking about. Kara what you did tonight is what every contestant needs to do and round one goes to Lee. Simon on the money with the song choice while the others were ok. You didn’t just win round one you crushed them in round one.
Kara picked Casey’s song and that is coming up next. Randy and Kara picked “Daughters”. I love the song choice for you not certain about your arrangement but far better than your first song. I don’t know I just can’t connect and feel you passion this week. Your doing okay but I have heard you do better. One hundred percent better than your fist one and you are connecting to the song and audience I just felt like you didn’t put your heart and sole into. Randy this fits you like a glove and I hope you continue in this direction. Ellen I liked that a lot. Kara this showed the more artistic side you did a good job with it. Simon much much better song choice. It was a lazy song choice.
Crystal is up next. I love the lack of guitar and the performance aspect. Okay now you have my attention. Really passionate about the song but you needed the adjust some of the lyrics. The gender references needed to be swapped. Still you did better than your fist song but not a wow moment. Randy someone else is in it to win it. Ellen that is what I was hoping you would do. Kara you didn’t change it up but really showed us new things with your voice. Simon when I heard the song choice I was worried but now I get it. That was terrific.
Lee closes out the show with “Hallelujah”. Simon could not have picked a more perfect song for you. Absolutely stunning. You mixed it up a bit and I love the way you hit the high notes. They saved the best for last. Now I get to be waken by a wonderful song with equally stunning performance. Randy your biggest moment on this show. Ellen I’m glad you listened to him. Kara you are what this show is all about. Simon very proud of you, tonight you proved you are a fantastic singer and a great person.
Hands down Lee owned the night in my opinion.
